You’re not trying to impress strangers — you’re trying to hold on to what matters.
The way your kid’s hair curls at the nape of their neck.
The way your partner looks at your baby when they think no one’s watching.
The way your family feels when you’re all together, just being.
At Sound Roots Photography, you’ll experience relaxed, in-home sessions designed for families, newborns, seniors, and women in business who value memories over perfection, connection over posing, and legacy over likes.
Because let’s be real — you don’t need another batch of digital images that don’t look or feel like you.
You deserve to feel at ease in front of the camera, seen for who you are, and surprised at how fun this whole experience can be.
Photography for the Moments You’ll Miss Most — and the Ones You Never Want to Forget
Many of my clients come to me with a familiar mix of stress and hesitation:
“My house isn’t picture-perfect.”
“We’re awkward in photos.”
“The last photographer just… left us standing there.”
“My partner hates photos.”
“My kids don’t sit still.”
“I’m not in most of our family photos.”
You’re not alone — and you’re not doing it wrong.
You deserve to relax into your real life, to laugh and play and just be with the people you love most, knowing someone else is quietly and skillfully capturing it all.
Whether it’s your toddler’s chaotic joy, your teen’s quiet affection, or the simple intimacy of a newborn napping on your chest — it all matters.
I’ll guide you just enough so you never feel lost, and leave plenty of space for your family’s natural energy and spirit to shine through.
True-to-Life Photography Rooted in Joy, Adventure, and Deep Connection
I work with people who value kindness, presence, and making memories together — not for social media, but for the stories you’ll tell in 20 years.
Whether we’re documenting your family’s cozy chaos, your teen on the brink of big change, or the quiet power of the business you’re growing — my job is to reflect your story as it is, in all its wild, meaningful, love-filled glory.
Lifestyle + Documentary photography
Hey!
I'm Ali
Your West Seattle
Photographer
Photography has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, I loved taking pictures. I once took a whole roll of film in "It's a Small World" at Disneyland! As I got older, anywhere there was a photography class offered, I took it. But even though I loved photography growing up, I never really saw it as a career choice because what I had encountered was stiff, super posed, slightly awkward and that was not my thing. Now that I'm a photographer, I make sure it's the opposite of all that. A photo experience with me is comfortable, relaxed, fun, and more like real life.

Skip the hustle, hurry, and performance culture. Let's slow down, be intentional, and preserve incredibly meaningful memories together.
These photos are not for me...they are for YOU, your kids, your family...now and in the future.

FAQ

What is your photography style?
Authentic, Soulful Storytelling
I focus on documenting real life as it unfolds—whether it's in-home lifestyle newborn sessions, documentary-style family sessions, or personal branding for women entrepreneurs. My work emphasizes:
- Natural Light & Real Settings:
- Connection Over Perfection
- Legacy-Driven Imagery
What is your editing style?
My editing style is warm, earthy, and a little moody—with soft shadows, rich colors, and natural tones that bring out the emotion and story in each moment. I edit in a way that feels true to real life, including honoring real bodies just as they are. I won’t retouch or smooth away what makes you you. My goal is to help you feel seen, not styled—to create images that feel timeless, honest, and deeply personal.
What is your approach to sessions?
My approach is relaxed, connection-focused, and story-driven. I’ll gently guide when needed, but mostly I’m there to document real moments as they naturally unfold. Whether we’re in your home or out exploring, I focus on creating a comfortable space where you can be yourselves—messy, joyful, quiet, playful—whatever your story is that day.
What areas do you service?
I’m based in West Seattle and serve the greater Seattle area, including nearby neighborhoods like Burien and White Center. I’m more than happy to travel further within King County for a $50 travel fee. If you’re unsure whether your location is included, just reach out—I’d love to make it work!
How long have you been a photographer?
I’ve been photographing families, newborns, and small businesses professionally for over five years, but my love for storytelling through images goes back much further to when I was nine years old! What started as a creative outlet has grown into a deep passion for documenting real, meaningful moments that become part of your family’s legacy.
